Official course description: Lecture, 3 hours; laboratory, 4 hours. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 112B with a grade of "C-" or better. Covers modern organic chemistry including structure, nomenclature, reactivity, synthesis, and reaction mechanisms and the chemistry of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, amino acids, and proteins. Also includes laboratory techniques of purification, isolation, synthesis, reactions, and spectroscopic analysis.
