Official course description: CHE275 is the first course of a two-semester introduction to organic chemistry that can be continued in the Spring semester as CHE325. These courses focus on the structure and reactivity of carbon-based molecules. Material in CHE275 will focus on the chemistry of the carbon-carbon bond, understanding and interpreting the 3-dimensional structures of organic molecules, and chemical reactivity of common functional groups. The course will be taught primarily using the textbook Organic Chemistry by Carey and Giuliano, with required reading assignments given on the syllabus.
