A hill that has a 12.0% grade is one that rises 12.0 m vertically for every 100.0 m of distance in the horizontal direction. At what angle is such a hill inclined above the horizontal?

After 100 m in the x direction, the hill rises 12 m in the y direction. This sets up a right triangle with sides 100 m and 12 m. To find the angle we can use trigonometry: tantheta=12/100, so theta=arctan(12/100)=6.84
