Hey there! So this would be a compound even though it is made of a single type of element which is carbon. The reason is that this is structured very specifically and will have very different properties as other materials that are also made of only carbon like graphite and diamond. This is called a Buckminsterfullerene or a "bucky-ball" because of its structure. I hope this helps! enter image description here
