Place the following compounds in order of increasing boiling points; AsH_3 , NH_3 , PH_3

I know that the correct order is PH3 , NH3 , AsH_3. I just don't understand why.

  • Edit: The correct order is actually PH_3, AsH_3, NH_3. Sabrina commented 11 months ago

NH3 will have the highest boiling point because NH3 molecules can form hydrogen bonds with each other. The other molecules will increase in boiling point with size. So, in order of increasing boiling point:

PH3 < AsH3 < NH3

I hope this helps!
