Is there a rule for the thermodynamics of R/S molecules?

Hi Haley! First, we have to draw each of the molecule so we can pull some details about their stability. I drew both of the molecules below and it appears that a is less stable because both of its substituents are in a wedged configuration which causes steric hindrance.
