Re-crystallization lab: if you failed to dry the compound completely, how would the melting point be affected?

Hi Irene! If your sample is still wet and you subjected it to a melting point determination analysis, it will melt at a lower temperature than the theoretical MP and it will also melt in a broader range of temperature. Hope that makes sense!
