So notice that heptane, what is that? how many carbons does that represent in an alkane chain? Well, just a regular alkane, right? there's no double or triple bonds and actually it's going to be seven carbons, okay? So it's going to look something like this and then we have to add on tert-butyl, do you remember what that group looks like? it looks something like that, this is going to equal your tert-butyl substituents, okay? Just like that we have a tert-butyl group and where is it? it's at position 4 and at 3 we have a regular methyl group and you know that methyl is just going to be your CH3, okay? So this is a methyl group, so we start number, we can say, this is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 at 4 we're going to draw on that tert-butyl group, so it's going to look something like that, okay? And at 3 we have just a regular methyl, so we can include that just like a little dash like that and you can also draw a CH3 if you want as well, so this is going to be what a structure so it's going to look like for our 4 tert-butyl 3 methyl heptane, okay?
