(c) km to ft

Hey guys, so in this question we want to convert from kilometres to feet. We have to show them how we would do this, so we're first going to convert from kilometres to meters. The way we do this is we put kilometres on the bottom and meters on the top, 1 goes wherever there's a prefix and kilo is 10 to the 3. From meters we want to convert to centimetres because we know we could convert from centimetres to feet. So meters goes on the bottom and centimetres goes on the top, 1 goes in front of the prefix and centi is 10 to the negative 2. We can't convert directly from kilometres to centimetres because we have to go through the base unit of meters. Now we can cancel out kilometres with kilometres, meters with meters and now we're at centimetres. We know that for every 1 inch we have 2.54 centimetres.

Once again centimetres goes on the bottom so we're able to cancel it out and then now we know that we have 12 inches in one foot, so inches are able to cancel out. So this is the way that you guys have to figure out, so we're trying to convert from kilometres to feet, meters is the base unit and we know there's a conversion between centimetres and inches and then from inches to feet. So that's like a whole process that you guys have to figure out in your head. So now you could cancel everything out and you're going to be left with feet. So this is how you would convert from kilometres to feet. See you guys soon.
