c. 3.5 L to qt
Hey guys, in this question we're asked to basically convert between different units for volume so here what they give us initially is they give us 3.5 liters meters and we're asked to convert that into quarts. Now the conversion factor that we need to remember here is that we're going to say 1 liters = 1.5669 quarts so that's the conversion factor so we're going to start out with the given information so we have 3.5 liters, we want to get rid of liters so liters goes on the bottom, we want to get quarts so quarts goes on top. Now we do exactly what the conversion factor says so for every 1 liter it's 1.5669 quarts. Liters cancel out and you have quarts left on the end so once you punch that in you get 3.69842 quarts but the number they give us initially is 3.5. It has a decimal point so we're going to go from left to right, our first non-zero number is that 3 once you start counting you count all the way until the end. So, we have 2 sig figs there which means my answer up here can only have 2 sig figs after that 6 there's a 9 there which means that that 6 has to get rounded up to a 7 which means my answer at the end which has 2 sig figs is 3.7 quarts. So just remember following basically conversion factors and the correct number of significant figures is how you isolate the correct answer at the end.
