Boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure of the liquid equals the external pressure surrounding the liquid. This can happen when enough of the liquid has vaporized. The amount of energy needed to overcome the attraction of liquid molecules and convert these molecules to vapor is affected by the molecule's intermolecular forces of attraction. The stronger the IMFA, the higher the boiling point.
