Concept #1: Strong Acids and Bases represent strong electrolytes that completely ionize in solution.
Concept #2: When calculating the pH of a solution we must take into consideration the concentration of the strong acid or base.
Whenever the concentration of your strong acid or strong base is between 10-6 to 10-8 M a systematic approach may have to be used to determine pH or pOH.
Example #1: Determine the pH of a 3.5 x 10-8 M HBr.
Practice: Determine the pH of a 6.7 x 10 -8 M NaOH.
